Spider attack! By Jimmy

Snore, snore. Click, click, click chimes 12am.
"I can't get to sleep mum!" No answer because she's asleep. My eyes droop down like blinds and my eyelashes link together.

Tick. Tick. Tick. "Stop Tom!" I repeat myself, however my idiotic brother does not hear me.
That's it! Like lightening I come out of my bed to kill him! My hands ready to choke!

Suddenly something distracted me... I saw a massive spider ripping at my flesh! "Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Mum! A spider, A spider ripping at my flesh!

In the morning I see a massive red lump on my leg. That was vicious!

Huia - Travels of a flower

Travels of a flower

The pohutakawa flower fell from its tree
where it was stood on by a child
it was carried to a classroom by the child’s boot
there it lay
on the floor
until a gust of wind blew it out the window
on to the street
where it fell into a gutter
carried by the stream
to the sewer where it came out in the ocean
socked clean
it washed up on a sandy island
where one of the natives picked it up
and wore it in their hair
where it grew old
and fell out
there it died a happy flower

Memories

“Look out there..” I mumbled with a mouthful of ice cream. We study a super yacht in the distance with boats like a school of fish surrounding it. People cover the foot path like buildings covering the city scape. Cars slowly drive past to glance at the boat.

As we continue our drive along the bays we pass the war tunnels. My dad tells me stories about the tunnels and his childhood in Seatoun. “Seatoun was my favourite place to live...” he remembers. I’m not really keen to go there because it might collapse on me. Dad brags about his life and I wish that I was him, what cool memories he has I think.

Joseph's Diving Moment

Diving at Stingray Bay

Splash! As we dive in all of the fish shoot past us. We swim towards the current to reach a rocky reef. I tried to swim through a cave to see if a crayfish was there but I was too scared. We crawl on the reef to find a good spot to dive. As we swim fast towards the sharp rocks, the sea glides me to shore.

I wait for my uncle and dad while I’m trying to catch mullet  in a big, open rock pool. I use my red net as the mullet shoot past.
“When are they coming back?” I wonder to myself.

“Yes!” I say. I see fins, snorkels, two orange floats and spears pop up.
“What did you guys catch?” I exclaim.

Our penpals received our letters!

Great to see our penpals recieved our letters! Can't wait until we get letters back from them!

Another lovely poem from Ben!

Erskine best kept secret,
Rusting gates open a vine garden,
Cracked paths wobble as we walk,
Old windows, cracked walls and graffiti,
New parts scatter in between old,
Old soggy news paper from 10 years ago,
Beer bottles skater the window sills,

Erskine best kept secret,

Ben Baker

Check out Nick's beautiful poem!

The Past
Rusted fences shiver my flesh,
Ripped newspapers makes past stories,
Past,rusted suitcase tells unknown stories,
"R.I.P,Mr Redwood,May 14th"
Broken windows echo my mind,
Graffiti artists takes art to the stage,

Erskine Wellington's best kept secrets.
